A visual study of the dynamic power of fire. A bright and layered upper composition juxstaposed against a wash of white.

I divided the piece into two distinct parts, treating each part in its own unique way. I covered the top of the canvas in plaster, then scrubbed the uneven surface until the plaster was paper thin. I applied a wood stain over that surface, replastered the surface unevenly and intentionally and re-stained. I continued this process several times over to achieve the layers of dramatic color and depth. The lower part of the painting was stained in a light oak stain and then covered again in a white wash. This gave an antiquated look to the base. The fiery dynamic energy above is moving down the canvas, leaving a beautiful fiery energy in its wake.
